Portland Oregon Unemployment Rate

According to the most recent information gathered at Simply Hired (for Portland, OR), the unemployment rate (as of December 2010 - the most recent national statistics available) has been hovering around 7.9%, which is slightly worse than the national average of 6.9% - but not as bad as certain cities across the country.

Portland Kelly-More Paints Close

While many states are seeing an improved economy, many stores are still having to close due to lack of business. Such is the case with Kelly-More Paints, which is closing all of its Portland area stores. The company has been in the region for over 40 years. The company is refusing to disclose just how many people will be losing their jobs from these closings, though one employee estimates that at least 25 people will be without a job due to the store closings. Employees have been given a month’s notice that their jobs will not exist by this time in June. Good luck to the employees of Kelly-More Paints; hopefully the market will treat you well and you will all find employment elsewhere soon.
